Obituary for Benjiman Woolsey

Benjiman Dee Woolsey, 81, passed away on October 29, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born April 21, 1942, to George Dee Woolsey and Mildred Vera Colledge Woolsey. He married DeAnna Curtis on June 30, 1983, in the West Jordan Temple.

Ben worked as a postal worker until his retirement and enjoyed the opportunity to be outside and active every day. Growing up he developed a love for sports; playing football, baseball, and basketball. Later in life he continued playing fastpitch softball and shared that love of sports (especially his beloved BYU Cougars) with his family. Some of his other hobbies included fishing with his dad, scouting, and of course hiking. He summited Mount Timpanogos over 1,000 times including 73 times the year he turned 73.

His love for hiking was only surpassed by his love for his wife DeAnna and their family. After retiring from the post office, they were inseparable whether it was being at the school together, taking grandmas on trips, or spoiling their grandchildren. His most favorite thing of all was to be a grandpa and he loved the relationships he developed with each of his grandchildren. He served faithfully in his church callings and lived what he believed.

He is survived by his wife, DeAnna; children, Jason (Muranda), Heather (Jason), Ryan (Sonja), Matt (Alisha); his nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and siblings David, Duane, Randall, and Barbara. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 4th, at 12:00 pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Orchard 3rd Ward, 810 East 600 North, Orem, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday, November 3rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, prior to the service from 10:45 to 11:30 am, at the same location. Interment in Orem City Cemetery.
